In the Beginning
We first met while working together at a startup called Cover. While we ended up sitting next to each other very early on, we really started to bond over our shared enjoyment of being paid to go out to elaborate meals around the city.
Out of the City
Over our brief courtship, we spent many weekends in the lovely state of Connecticut, our ancestral homes, and where both of our parents still reside. Weekends away from the city, in Westport, Woodbridge, and longer getaways to Cape Cod or ski trips to Colorado and Vermont, brought us closer together.
Moving On In
Our time dining together nightly for pay came to a pause after Cover was acquired. Though slightly stressful at the time, it provided the perfect time for us to move in together, and leave the hustle and bustle of Manhattan for the quiet and peace of Downtown Brooklyn.
Donut Give Up
With a bunch of free time on our hands, we decided to start a company together, because after deciding to live together we were worried we wouldn't see each other enough. Along with our former coworker Jeff and his brother Dan, we started a company to provide culture technology to other companies. We called this company, Donut.
Trip to Paris
As Donut started to sort of, almost, maybe, get somewhat stable, we decided to finally take a real vacation together. After much debate and stress, we settled on a trip to Paris, a city neither of us had been to. We both loved it. The scooters, the pedestrian friendly streets, the outdoor cafes — what else could you hope for?
Sailing through the Sky
While spending a few days outside of Paris, Sarah secretly booked a hot air balloon flight for us at the last minute. We ventured into the sky, looking down over the Loire valley, as the sun set in the distance. You couldn't imagine a more romantic setting for Sarah to decide that it would be too embarassing for Kippy if she proposed.
A Night in Amboise
After a gorgeous flight across the Loire Valley, and a wine soaked three course dinner in the medeival town of Amboise, we returned to our lovely château on the edge of town. We ventured out to the silent, beautiful garden to finish our bottle of wine. It was there that Sarah pulled out the ring and finally popped the question. Kippy couldn't possibly say anything but "oui".
